Two white baby Blue Jays were sighted and observed for several minutes as well as two parent normally colored Blue Jays. The young Blue Jays had apparently fallen from their nests. Both were clearly immature and not capable of sustained flight, although one was able to fly three or four feet. The first was sighted on the hiking trail and we caught thinking it was abandoned. Shortly afterward we noticed a second white baby about twenty feet on the opposite side of the trail so we released the captured baby near it. Both birds united quickly and then the parent Blue Jays flew in and around them nervously. After watching all four for several more minutes we continued our walk hoping the babies would gain wing strength to fly to a perch above the ground.
