Goldfinches have been rare on my Durham city balcony for the last two years with all the highrise building going on all around me. So I was delighted yesterday when an entire family of goldfinches flew to my balcony again and again, attracted by the volunteer sunflowers, planted by birds, that have sprung up like a kind of meadow in a pot by the railing.
