[edit] Description

Caesar’s Head is the gateway to a large area of public lands in northern Greenville County, collectively called the Mountain Bridge Wilderness. At the park office you can get information on hiking the many miles of trails and visiting nearby areas, such as Jones Gap State Park and Ashmore Heritage Preserve.

From September through November there is an active hawk watch at Caesar’s Head. If you visit on the right day in mid September you might see hundreds of Broad-winged Hawks in migration from the overlook. The overlook is also a great place to see Common Ravens, which nest nearby. You might also see a Peregrine Falcon, another local nester.

Rarities seen at Caesar’s Head include Red Crossbill, Golden Eagle, and breeding-season Cerulean Warbler. Caesar’s Head is good during spring and fall migrations as well as during the breeding season.
